As Carl Friedriech Gauss has stated mathematics as “the Queen of the Sciences”, mathematics is indeed the mother of science that influenced many other science including physics, statistics, economics, and computer science.

There are many problems in human life that can be solved by math answers. Take economics for example, prediction of product sales can be satisfactorily done with math help. Furthermore, the need of a tool to solve math problems has in turn led to computer invention that now become indispensable tool for human life.

That’s why mathematics should be learnt in elementary school, because mathematics is the root of the other sciences. It will help students to understand other branch of science and serve as a mean for problem solving in most cases in one’s personal life.

  1. Cost. Since Microsoft requires you to buy any license to use Windows-based server, upgrading or adding features will likely cost you another dollar.   4. Support. Linux users community is a solid group of Linux users around the world that share solutions of many Linux problem, you can easily find support everywhere in the Internet. However, if you are more convenient with paid support from Microsoft, Windows platform is your choice.
  5. Portability. Windows platform can serve PHP/MySQL with proper software installed. You can easily port PHP/MySQL applications into Windows hosting.

Once you decided your webhosting platform, I suggest you to check its webhosting rating to compare features and services offered among the webhost providers.

Today, if you can’t be found in Google, you might as well not exist.

That’s what Jeff Jarvis, an American journalist, wrote on his book “What Would Google Do?” Fifteen years ago, you probably wouldn’t have thought that the Internet could change the world of news and media.

But that’s not the point of my today’s post. I believe it’s true that if you want people to know what you’re trying to inform, you’d better be somewhere on Google. Let’s say you’re doing business selling home-made handicrafts which you’re trying to sell them overseas. Where are your prospective consumers likely going to find your contact address from? The Internet, right? Jarvis explains this new media very well in his book.

What I’m trying to tell you is that you should place yourself in the Internet for your consumers to find if you’re running a business, or for an old friends or relatives. Well, one of the ways to be in Google is by having a website. Professional websites are delivered from professional hosting. So, the first thing you do to have your own website is to get a good webhosting. Choose a website hosting that provides any tool you’d need to build your web page or blog, like support for PHP and mySQL, CMS or blog engine installer, etc.

If you don’t know anything about building a website mumbo-jumbos, you could simply hire a web developer to build web pages or web applications for you. From here, your existence in the Internet has begun. Sure there are a lot more technical stuffs to be done, but I’ll save it for another post :-)

Perhaps you’d say that it’s a kind of box in front of your granny’s house to store received mails. Or, as a digital-aware people, this word probably reminds you to check mails in your e-mail account.

Both of the responds above are correct. If you refer to Wiktionary, mailbox stands for both interpretation. But, I’ll talk about the traditional mailbox for now.

If you think that mailboxes fit only to traditional people, I’m afraid you’re wrong. Statistics in US Postal Service web site show that they has served about 201,128 million units of mails in 2008, not to mention the other millions of mails in the previous years and other special mailing services. This could mean a significantly important business of postal service in the digital age.

Some documents and messages can’t be easily replaced by digital service shipping for reasons, you can search for this issue on Internet search engine. In Indonesia, service bills and legal documents are usually sent by postal service and delivered in anytime even while you’re not at home. So, not only for grandmothers, whether you are as an individual or on behalf of business company, a mailbox in front of your house or office will keep valuable documents and mails sent to you.

I got the skill while I was at college and running a computer workshop several years before I had the job I’m currently working. I do it as a hobby. Bringing a PC into it’s normal life always gives me satisfaction, and undoubtedly, so does it to my friends.

The most common problems with my friends’ PC are broken operating system, crashed hard drives, and just simply missing device drivers. For the first two I usually reinstall the operating system after inspecting and repairing the cause of the problems. But then comes another problem when it’s time to install the device drivers, my friends don’t have the CD that usually came with the PC on purchasing. They just don’t know that the CD is so important that it should be kept.

Fortunately, I have bookmarked my favorite Windows device driver resource site on my Internet browser. This website provides Windows device driver for various device models and manufacturers.

I always tell my friends to keep the driver files just in case another problem occurs to their PC. You should keep yours, too. But if you lost your PC’s driver CD or installation files, you know where to find the drivers.
